Install WPBridge Studio WordPress Plugin: Status and Setup

Use the hosted companion for Studio account packages. The guide below connects your own site to https://wpbridgestudio.com/mcp. You do not need to deploy a Node server.

1. Create your Studio account

Sign up with your name, email and a unique password of at least 12 characters, or sign in. Your free account receives 20 daily tool calls. Keep this account separate from your WordPress login.

WordPress.org review status

WPBridge Studio has submitted its WordPress plugin for review. The proposed slug is wpbridge-studio. The listing is not yet approved, and no ZIP installer or earlier version is available for download from this website.

3. Verify WordPress in Studio

  1. Choose a dedicated WordPress user with the permissions you need.
  2. Open that user’s profile and find Application Passwords.
  3. Enter WPBridge Studio as its name and generate the password. WordPress shows it once; save it securely.
  4. Open your Studio dashboard. Enter the public HTTPS site address, WordPress username and Application Password.
  5. Click Verify and connect WordPress. Then use Check connection to confirm the saved credentials still work.

The application password authorizes WordPress API requests. It is not your Studio website password. Studio stores site credentials in encrypted private server state and does not return them through the site-list tool.

4. Connect ChatGPT

Use your available ChatGPT custom-app or MCP connection setup. This service has not been approved as a public ChatGPT directory listing. Follow the supported custom connection flow in your current ChatGPT account and check its plan and workspace eligibility before attempting authorization.

  1. Open the custom app/connector creation screen in your ChatGPT account.
  2. Enter https://wpbridgestudio.com/mcp as the MCP server URL.
  3. Select OAuth and automatic dynamic client registration. Leave client credentials blank.
  4. Continue to Studio, sign in with the account that holds your verified WordPress site, and authorize the connection.
  5. Wait for the browser to return to ChatGPT. Start a fresh request if a previous authorization link expired.

5. Test before publishing

Use WPBridge Studio. Call list_sites.
For my intended site, call site_status, then
wordpress_read with route /wp/v2/users/me.
Report the site URL and WordPress user ID. Make no changes.

Confirm that the returned URL and user match your site. A successful website credential check and an AI OAuth grant are separate checks. Only a successful tool response in the client confirms the full path.

6. Choose a package or enable changes

Compare free, monthly, annual and lifetime packages. Upgrading changes the allowance on the same Studio account. To publish or delete content, explicitly enable changes in the WordPress plugin and use a user with the required native capability. Test one disposable draft on staging first.

Pre-installation checklist for hosted WPBridge Studio

Before connecting: Confirm that your WordPress site uses HTTPS, allows installing the plugin, exposes an authenticated REST API and has a dedicated WordPress account with only the permissions needed for your intended workflow.

Setup requirements and common blockers
RequirementWhat to checkWhy it matters
HTTPS WordPress siteThe correct public site hostname and working TLS certificateOAuth and API credentials must not cross an unencrypted connection
Plugin installationAccess to Plugins → Add New → Upload PluginSome managed hosting plans restrict custom plugins
WordPress REST accessThe site registers and permits the required REST routesA visible dashboard feature does not guarantee API compatibility
Application PasswordA separate credential belonging to the intended WordPress userHosted Studio uses this credential for authorized site requests
AI-client accessYour client account offers the required MCP/OAuth connection interfacePlugin installation does not include or unlock an AI subscription

See a real WordPress connector test before installing

Review the verified WPBridge Studio MCP tool demonstration for actual site-status, REST page-read and revision-history results. It shows how to validate an authorized connection, and clearly identifies which third-party client functions have not been independently tested. This hosted installation guide remains the source of truth for the connection steps.

What counts as a successful installation?

  1. The plugin is active on the WordPress site.
  2. The hosted Studio dashboard verifies the exact intended WordPress URL and user credentials.
  3. The AI client completes authorization using the correct hosted MCP endpoint.
  4. The client calls list_sites, site_status and wordpress_read on /wp/v2/users/me without a credentials or permission error.
  5. The returned site URL and user ID match the WordPress installation you authorized.

A connected badge alone is insufficient. If any check fails, inspect the actual error through the connection error guide. Leave content edits disabled until identity and read-only tests pass.

Current MCP client registration and authorization note

The July 2026 MCP specification prefers OAuth Client ID Metadata Documents for compatible HTTP clients and keeps Dynamic Client Registration as a backwards-compatible mechanism. WPBridge Studio’s published hosted setup currently documents its supported OAuth registration flow. Do not replace the configured workflow with a different registration method unless the actual Studio endpoint and client both support it.

If your ChatGPT connection screen has changed, confirm the exposed registration options and run a read-only site_status test rather than assuming success. For specific tool signatures see the MCP tools reference, and for the underlying standard see MCP authorization.

Setup questions

Do I need WordPress administrator access?

Plugin installation and certain site settings typically need an administrator or a hosting operator with equivalent rights. Routine WordPress content requests can use a dedicated lower-privilege account if its permissions allow the desired endpoint.

Does the hosted setup require Node.js?

No separate Node server deployment is part of the documented hosted companion setup. Your WordPress hosting must still support the plugin and its REST operations.

Are direct mode and hosted Studio the same installation?

No. Direct mode serves an MCP endpoint from your own WordPress site and uses a separate authorization setup. Review the direct mode guide before copying an endpoint.

Why can I read a page but not publish it?

Authentication and editorial permissions are different controls. Read-only mode or the connected WordPress user’s role may prevent publication even when reads succeed. See security and permissions.

Before installing, compare the WordPress ChatGPT MCP connector options. This page covers the hosted Studio account path; customers preferring an on-site MCP endpoint should use direct WordPress connection instructions.

Connection wizard for existing installations

Already running an authorized installation of WPBridge Studio? Use the WordPress ChatGPT connection wizard to sign in, verify the correct WordPress sites and follow the supported OAuth connection steps. The wizard does not replace the required WordPress plugin or its pending public distribution.
